Location: Doha, Qatar
About: The Cybersecurity Group at the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) is seeking scientists at all levels to join our dynamic and growing team. Our group advances the state-of-the-art in areas such as AI security, as well as broader topics in system security, privacy, and trust. We work on both foundational research and applied challenges, including building secure and resilient systems, protecting sensitive data, and ensuring the integrity of machine learning and AI pipelines. We collaborate with international research institutions, government agencies, and industry partners to solve real-world problems while also advancing academic excellence.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field, with a demonstrated record of research excellence. This may include peer-reviewed publications in top venues, impactful systems or tools, patents, or open-source contributions. Applicants should have a strong interest in both theoretical and applied aspects of cybersecurity, and a desire to work on problems that have practical, real-world impact.
Role: A Scientist position at QCRI is a permanent contract and is equivalent to a tenure-track Assistant Professor role at a top US institution. The responsibilities of a Scientist include researching the frontier of their discipline, fostering research collaboration and technology transfer with end-users of data systems, community outreach, and service to the discipline. Additional responsibilities may include interacting with industry partners and applying for research grants, collaborating with external partners, developing national cybersecurity initiatives, and mentoring junior colleagues.

About QCRI: QCRI is an independent research institute within Hamad Bin Khalifa University, part of the Qatar Foundation, a non-profit organization. Founded in 2010, QCRI currently has more than 100 members, including distinguished scientists, talented software engineers, and dedicated admin and IT support staff. Since its establishment, it has focused on research quality and practical impact. Scientific outputs of QCRI researchers have regularly been published at top conferences and journals. The practical impact of QCRI’s research includes contributing to multiple startup companies (e.g., TAMR, BforeAI, and Rayyan), receiving numerous international patents, and developing widely used systems and platforms, such as FANAR (an Arabic-focused platform that includes multiple large language models (LLMs) designed and trained from the ground-up at QCRI), Rayyan for systematic medical research review (used worldwide and cited 17,800+ times), AIDR for humanitarian crisis management (used by the United Nations), and ATS for speech recognition and machine translation (one of the most accurate systems in the industry).
