The Cybersecurity Group at the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the Qatar Foundation, is in Education City, Doha—a global hub for research, innovation, and higher education.
We advance cutting-edge research in AI safety and security, AI for security, and cyber physical system security tackling both foundational challenges and practical applications. This Position
You will be joining our group as a postdoc researcher to work on agent security and/or deepfake detection. Your research will include analyzing agentic workflows for security vulnerabilities; benchmarking LLMs and AI agents against safety, security, and privacy evaluations; auditing the supply chain of agentic applications for security threats; designing state-of-the-art pre- and post-deployment defenses for agentic AI systems; and conducting real-time forensics and developing efficient defenses against multimodal deepfakes.
As a postdoc, you will:
- Conduct research under the supervision of senior scientists in our team.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and make meaningful contributions to the research project.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret research data to maximize the impact and value of the research.
- Develop and design prototypes using appropriate tools, methodologies, and techniques to achieve the project’s research objectives.
- Contribute to intellectual property development through open-source software, technical disclosures, and patent applications.
- Write and publish high-quality research papers in top-tier security and AI conferences.
Who You Are
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field.
- Strong research background in AI security, cybersecurity, machine learning, computer vision, or a closely related area.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in developing agentic applications, including experience with agentic frameworks, tool-using agents, and AI-assisted programming.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in security testing, red-teaming, evaluating, and benchmarking LLMs and agentic applications against safety, security, and privacy risks.
- Experience with program analysis, application security, software supply-chain security, or related security analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with multimodal AI, computer vision, digital forensics, or deepfake detection is highly desirable.
- Experience in developing or evaluating defenses against adversarial or manipulated multimodal content is a strong plus.
- Strong research track record, including publications in top-tier security, AI, or machine learning venues, is highly desirable.
- Strong programming skills, preferably in multiple programming languages, with experience in modern software development practices, CI/CD workflow automation, and containerization.
- Proven experience in designing, developing, testing, and documenting research prototypes and software applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft and edit technical reports, research papers, and professional communications, and to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
